Have you ever been so burnt out at the end of a work day that come dinner time you just want something fast and easy? Or perhaps your special someone has a weakness for chicken nuggies and you're wanting to class up your fast food date night? We've got you covered with the ultimate guide for those moments when you're craving the comfort of fast food but also want to sip on something a little fancier. That's right, we're talking about the art of pairing wine with your favorite guilty pleasures from Taco Bell to Pizza. So grab a glass and let's put my 10 years of experience in the alcohol industry to good use!

Taco Bell + Albariño

Let's start with the belle of the ball, Taco Bell! Whether you're munching on a Crunchwrap Supreme or diving into a Doritos Locos Taco, (those new Cheesy Chicken Crispanadas are *muah chef's kiss) the bold flavors demand a wine that can stand up to the heat. Reach for a crisp and refreshing white wine like a Albariño or Sauvignon Blanc . My former boss James first introduced me to Albariños while I was living in Austin working for Babe wine. These wines add a zesty kick to your taco experience and keep things light and lively!

Chick-fil-A & Chardonnay

Ah, Chick-fil-A, the holy grail of chicken and waffle fries. When it comes to pairing wine with these crispy delights, opt for a versatile and fruit-forward white wine such as a Chardonnay or a Pinot Grigio. The bright acidity and subtle fruit flavors complement the savory chicken and bring out the best in those perfectly seasoned waffle fries.

In-N-Out + Pinot Noir

I'm originally from the West Coast, so In-N-Out will always have a special place in my heart. Who can resist the siren call of a Double Double animal style? Whether you're indulging in a Big Mac or Burger King, look for a light and fruity red wine like a Pinot Noir or Merlot to match with your burger. The soft tannins and berry notes harmonize beautifully with the savory flavors.

Chinese Takeout + Riesling

Next up, we have everyone's favorite guilty pleasure – Chinese takeout! Whether you're diving into a plate of General Tso's chicken or savoring some sweet and sour pork, a slightly sweet and aromatic white wine like a Riesling or a Gewürztraminer is the way to go. The subtle sweetness of these wines balances out the bold flavors of your favorite Chinese dishes, leaving your taste buds jumping for joy!

Pizza + Nebbiolo

Last but certainly not least, we have the ultimate comfort food – pizza! Whether you're a fan of pepperoni, mushroom, or pineapple (no judgment here!), a bold and juicy red wine like a Nebbiolo or a Zinfandel is the perfect companion. However, if you prefer old world wines like my partner, then Sangiovese also makes for a great option. The rich fruit flavors and velvety texture of these wines complement the cheesy goodness of your favorite pie, making every slice a match made in heaven.

While fast food may not always scream sophistication, pairing it with the right wine can elevate your dining experience to new heights. So the next time you're craving some Taco Bell or McDonald's, don't forget to grab a bottle of wine and indulge in a little luxury. After all, life is too short to skip out on the finer things – even when they come in a drive-thru! Cheers!
